Hello There
Hello! Thanks for visiting this website!
I hope you found what you were looking for, but I’m also happy to answer questions (use the contact form) or you can add me on Facebook. (I’m not so great with Twitter and my Insta is just my dogs and randomness and selfies).
A few things about me? Well, I’m mostly from Utah–meaning I spent many years there between living in a few other places throughout my childhood and my early twenties. When very young we lived in New Jersey and my late grade school years and early teens were spent in Santa Rosa. I later worked/lived in: Worcester (Mass) and Manhattan while working with a company in Utah (in Library services). In 2001, I moved to Alaska (long story) and shortly after met my husband JP. We moved back to Utah and I finished school (with a PhD from U of U in 2013 in Creative Writing). We then lived in Vermillion, South Dakota for three years as I worked at the University of South Dakota (and miss my dear friends there wildly!) Now we are in Colorado Springs and I think/hope we are here to stay. We love the mountains and being close to family in Utah. We also love the summer storms. I’m teaching at Colorado College and am loving it! I teach fiction writing, literature by Native Americans, Experimental Ethnic American Lit, and (recently) a class on reader/writer positionality and representing identity in contemporary fiction.
I spend a lot of time teaching, advising, and pouring myself into campus programs and events. I also read and write regularly while making sure I have time to work on editing as well, which is another passion of mine and is an essential part of being a writer, I think. I’ve little time outside of these things, but I do like spending time with my husband and my dogs. And I do love how great tv has become over the years. I tend to check out every moody detective drama that finds its way to Netflix or Amazon. And I do my best to keep up with sci-fi as well. I like crafts–meaning low stakes art. And I find time for creative visual work, which usually turns into gifts and only occasionally an image-text art piece. Collage is still my favorite artistic venture because it’s so forgiving and can be so weird.
I might add more here as I figure out what this space can be. But interviews on the home page might be another good stop if you are looking to become familiar with me. And, of course, just reach out! I’m not always quick to reply and sometimes I’m stuck in deadlines, but I will try my best to hit you back.
